USSF and AYSO Player Development Initiatives

The 2017 Season brought a number of changes to youth player development for all of US Soccer and its members, including AYSO. Some changes were administrative. Others affect how we teach and play the game. This is especially true in divisions younger than 14U. As coaches, you will be instrumental in implementing Player Development goals at whatever level you coach. Our Coach Administration Team will do everything we can to provide you the tools and training to have fun and be successful.

The nationwide changes stress:

• DEVELOPMENT OVER WINNING
• CREATE ENVIRONMENT FOR PLAYER SUCCESS (INDIVIDUAL VS. TEAM)
• PLAYER DEVELOPMENT UNIFORMITY

If those sound similar to AYSO's 6 philosophies its because AYSO has been at the forefront of Player Development for quite some time.

FINAL THOUGHT: There is always resistance to change. However, Quartz Hill AYSO will adhere to the directives set forth by US Soccer and AYSO as best we can. The game will be fun for the kids and that is what matters.
