Team Responsibilities

As a condition of participation in the 10U - 14U Divisions, all teams MUST provide an AYSO certified Assistant Referee for the game immediately following theirs unless the team's game is:

  • The last of the day on the same field, or
  • Is immediately followed by a VIP or EXTRA game, or
  • There is a gap greater than one hour from the end of the team's game to the start of the next game.

Referee points are deducted for missed referee/assistant referee assignments.

This assignment is automatic and does not need to be pre-scheduled. Be sure that your teams referees are certified, on time, and in the provided uniform.  Our game schedule is very tight and delays have a cascading effect on the rest of the day. Non-certified or improperly uniformed referees will NOT be awarded points.

Referee Points Information

  • 2 referee points are awarded for each center referee assignment.
  • 1 referee point is awarded for each assistant referee assignment.
  • A maximum of 3 points may be earned by each team each week, with the exception of weeks 8 & 9 when a maximum of 4 points can be earned by a team.
  • Referee points are deducted for missed referee assignments.
  • On occasion, the Region Referee Administrator may choose to award referee points to teams that participate in weekly education meetings, or teams that provide newly certified referees.

Not Enough Points?

Other Opportunities to Earn Referee Points

Although we have many games each Saturday, the majority of the Assistant Referee assignments are pre-assigned to the teams playing in the preceding games. There are still opportunities to volunteer as an Assistant Referee beyond the teams responsibilities, and help your team make it into the Fall Tournament. The maximum number of points that a team may earn remains at 3 per week.

  • The first game of the day on each field generally has no Assistant Referees pre-assigned, and referees can sign up for these games for extra points.
  • Games that follow an EXTRA or VIP game have no Assistant Referees pre-assigned, and referees can sign up for these games for extra points.
  • Vacancies due to a team's inability to provide an Assistant Referee, can be claimed so long as the referee is on-site and able to immediately fulfill the entire assignment.

Look in the referee schedule once it is unlocked for that date, and any blank Assistant Referee position in 10U - 14U can be self-assigned in the schedule system.

'Position Held' on the online schedule, indicates that the assignment is reserved or that the schedule has not been released for that date.

POST SEASON INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Fall Season consists of 10 weeks of regular games. A Post Season Invitational Tournament is held at the conclusion of the regular season for the 10U through 14U divisions. The only requirement to be eligible for the post season invitational is that a team must earn the following referee points:

  • 10U – 19 referee points or 16 referee points and 6 volunteer points for 22 points total by week 9.
  • 12U – 20 referee points by week 9 of the season.
  • 14U – 20 referee points by week 9 of the season.

Referee points are deducted for missed referee assignments.

A team not earning the required referee points will not be invited to participate in the post season invitational tournament regardless of the team’s standings at the end of the season. The winners of the championship matches in each division will automatically advance to the Area 1B Fall Tournament which will be held in January.
