Travel Program

Travel teams are the advanced play program of the Rivertowns United Football Club (RUFC). We field teams in multiple age and skill divisions -- including travel, premiere, and elite -- of the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) and also in the EDP -- specifically, New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL).

Dedicated professional trainers help elevate individual and team skill levels, alongside committed parent volunteer coaches. Our teams compete at appropriately competitive tiers of league play. Our coaches promote a positive approach to player and team development.

We strive to promote love and respect for the beautiful game of soccer.

Season Dates

Travel games run September through November in the fall, and March/April through June in the spring. There are generally no league games over holiday weekends, although some teams participate in tournaments.

Joining a Travel Team

Team formation happens after player evaluations are held in the spring. Dates are announced on our website and through email to our current registrants in AYSO and travel.

After teams are formed, depending on the age group, there may be limited team openings.

We welcome you to contact us after the tryouts date has passed -- please email [email protected], being sure to include your player's birth year and gender if you are interested in finding out if there are opportunities at your player's age level.

FAQs

What is the time commitment?

8-to-10-week Fall and Spring seasons
1 to 2 practices per week @ 1-1.5 hours each (depends on team and age level)
1 game per weekend, with home games in the Rivertowns and away games in Westchester -- and possibly Manhattan, Rockland, or Putnam, or even farther for EDP teams.
Opportunities throughout the year for additional player development including tournaments, winter leagues, and winter practices

Who are the coaches and trainers?

Practices are run by a combination of professional trainers and parent volunteer coaches.
Games are coached by parent volunteer coaches – but with trainer feedback and occasional attendance

What are the costs?

$400.00 - Rivertowns United annual registration fee for Fall 2023/Spring 2024 (should be similar in 24/25)
$130.00 - Rivertowns United travel uniform (should be similar in 24/25)
$100-$400 - Travel team trainer fees per season (for teams that use a professional trainer -- actual amount depends on how often the team uses the trainer)
+ possible additional various costs, that differ per team -- including tournaments, facility fees for indoor training, winter training, team soccer equipment
$550-$800 -- approximate total cost of travel soccer for each season
