Registration for Fall

FALL 2024 SEASON

Welcome back, Hillsborough (Region 110) AYSO Families!

We are pleased to invite you to register for our Fall Soccer Season beginning MAY 2, 2024.  We welcome boys and girls aged 4 through 18 (as of January 1) to play soccer this fall. Our season runs from late August through the end of October. Hillsborough AYSO is open to kids from everywhere. Children with special needs can sign up for our EPIC (Everyone Plays In our Community, formerly VIP) program.

Enrollment is first-come, first-served.  We will try to accommodate all players, but enrollment may be limited by the availability of volunteer coaches.  Players may be placed on a waitlist until volunteer coaches become available. Since many divisions fill up fast, register early to avoid higher registration fees and reduce the possibility of being placed on the waitlist.

AYSO uses birth-year registration to align with US Soccer, the governing body for soccer in the US. Players are placed into a division defined by the calendar year of their birth. For example, a player born any time during 2016 will be placed in 8U. The registration system automatically places players into the correct division. Please continue reading below to learn more.

REGISTRATION WAITLIST

You will be placed on a waiting list if you receive a “Division Full” notification during registration. If a spot becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know we have a space for you. After that, you can complete your registration and make your payment. It is our goal to have every player who signs up play.

If you have any questions, please contact our registrar at [email protected].

VOLUNTEERS

Hillsborough AYSO is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Please consider volunteering if you can, as we always need coaches and referees. Other opportunities are available if you would prefer something “off the field”. Volunteers keep this excellent program running and the kids playing.

To register as a Volunteer, please visit the Sports Connect portal:

  • Coaches - Head/Assistant (For questions regarding volunteer coaching roles, please contact our Head Division Director [email protected])
  • Referees / Linesman (For questions regarding referees, please contact our Referee Administrator, Kit Rodgers, at [email protected])
  • Other positions (Questions regarding other positions – including serving on our Board - please contact our Regional Commissioner, Tony Lorber, at [email protected])

The volunteer registration process is slightly different this year. Volunteers NOT associated with a specific team, such as a coach or designated referee, should register under the "MY2024" program, separate from the "Fall Core 2024". This is important, so please reach out if you have any questions or issues with the volunteer registration process.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Teammate requests - AYSO strives to form ‘balanced’ teams to provide a more robust learning experience for teams as they play teams comprised of similar abilities. That said, the only way to guarantee your child is placed on a team with another player is to volunteer to coach or referee and pair up with the other family. Each team is allowed three volunteers; Coach, Assistant Coach, and Referee. All coaching/referee pairings are subject to review to ensure we can meet the team balancing objective.

  • AYSO EPIC - The mission of the AYSO EPIC Program is to provide a quality soccer experience for individuals whose unique physical or mental abilities make it difficult to participate on mainstream soccer teams successfully. Successful participation is defined by the player's enjoyment and the safety of all team members.

  •  Financial assistance - Financial assistance is available. Please email our registrar at [email protected] to apply for assistance.

Upper Division Conduct Policy

Players are required to demonstrate good sporting behavior at all AYSO events.  This includes practices as well as games.  In recent years we have seen a growing incidence of unacceptable conduct in the upper divisions, for example: use of profanity or epithets, taunting another team when Hillsborough is far ahead in score, and persistent disruption at practices.  To address this issue, the Hillsborough AYSO Board has approved the following measures which began with the Fall 2017 season.  These measures are intended to ensure that all AYSO participants have the chance to enjoy soccer in a positive sporting environment.

For the 16U and 19U divisions, draft team rosters will be subject to review and approval by a committee of the Hillsborough AYSO Board.  Players who have demonstrated recurrent unacceptable conduct will not be invited to play and will have their registration fees refunded.

For all 14U, 16U and 19U divisions, the following sanctions for unacceptable conduct will be implemented:

  • Coaches should remind players that participation in AYSO is a privilege, not an entitlement.
  • Any player who receives a yellow card related to unacceptable conduct will be required to sit a game before being allowed to play again.  To satisfy this requirement the player must attend one game and remain on the bench for the entire game.  Attendance must be noted by the referee on the game card.
  • Any player who receives a red card related to unacceptable conduct will be suspended immediately and not permitted to play unless approved by the Regional Commissioner.
  • Coaches are required to report persistently disruptive behavior or unacceptable conduct at practices to the Regional Commissioner.  The Regional Commissioner may suspend offending players.
