Program Restructure

This week LA County announced that as of Sept 1st all youth athletes would be required to be tested for Covid within 48 (later updated to 72) hours of competition and would have to be testing at least once per week.

Some of the Regions in our Area (10D) are in LA County and we have relied on them to provide varied competition in our older divisions (10U, 12U, & 14U). Those Regions are likely to delay the start of the season to assess the impact to their programs leaving Rosamond with no one to play. Playground, 6U, & 8U divisions are not affected.

As a result, Rosamond AYSO has decided to restructure this year's soccer program to largely play each other. Divisions 10U and up are being modified to play short-sided games (fewer players on the field). The Boys and Girls programs are being combined, making all teams Co-Ed. Both of these changes will allow a larger pool of teams in each division for varied game play.

Ordering additional uniforms and equipment, as well as rearranging teams, will be required. To allow time for these changes, opening day will likely be delayed one week. Your coaches will be made aware of changes and schedules.

We are committed to getting Rosamond soccer players back onto the pitch! You may even find that small sided games are faster and allow more touches on the ball for more players while requiring better ball control and development of fine motor skills.
